Yes, I know that some may say that the memo format is too complicated for modern office work but the fact is that it is very easy to learn. Even if you are not a computer genius, you should be able to figure out how to get your documents into the format. Here are some simple steps to getting started with the memo format.
First, open the file that you want to create. Do not save it as a .doc extension. This is because Microsoft Word does not recognize these extensions and will not allow you to open the file properly. Save it as a .docx extension that is recognized by most word processors.
Next, save the new memo format to a secure location. It would help if you choose to put the file on your laptop, desktop or some other form of private location. You want to make sure that nobody else can open your document.
Finally, make sure that you have the system setup. This is done by right clicking on the .doc extension then click on properties. Now check the option to read-only and make sure that you have set the right options.
Once this step is done, it is time to install the software program that will work with the memo format. Choose the Microsoft Word program and click next.
On the next screen select the “Microsoft Word” icon and then the “Text” icon. In the symbol box type the document you wish to make. You may also find it easier to use the drop down menu which will allow you to select text from a wide range of options including text, word, paragraph, table, image and many more.
Now click on the button Convert to doc to convert the document to doc format. After this the file will be ready for you to open or print.
